Coast Guard medically evacuates man from Mackinaw Island

MACKINAW ISLAND, Mich. -- The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 69-year-old male with a hip injury from the Mackinaw Clinic here at approximately 1:45 a.m. Tuesday. 

A Coast Guard Station St. Ignace 47-foot motor life boat was dispatched to the island then transported the man because there was not enough medical supplies at the clinic.

He was transferred to an awaiting Emergency Medical Services ambulance at Station St. Ignace and taken to the Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey, Mich.
