Coast Guard rescues four from capsized sailboat CLEVELAND - The U.S. Coast Guard rescued four people from a capsized sailing vessel in Oswego, N.Y., at approximately 5:45 p.m., Monday. Coast Guard Station Oswego launched their 25-foot response boat after a station crewmember saw the sailing vessel capsize approximately 10 yards from the pier. All four were wearing life jackets. "The wind picked up really bad and knocked them over," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Kurt Schulze, the Officer of the Day at Station Oswego. "We launched and were able to get out to them in about five minutes." The four people were taken to the Oswego Sailing Center and met by Emergency Medical Services. No injuries were reported. The Coast Guard encourages all mariners to wear life jackets at all times when on the water, and to carry a communications device, such as a marine-band radio, while boating.
