COAST GUARD SEARCHES FOR POSSIBLE PERSON IN THE WATER

MARBLEHEAD, Ohio – The Coast Guard is currently searching for a possible person in the water near Crib Reef, which is just northwest of Marblehead.

Donald Placo, 64, was apparently fishing Sunday afternoon in Lake Erie.  At approximately 6:45 p.m. his 24-foot pleasure craft was discovered on Crib Reef by a Good Samaritan who was boating in the area.  He notified Coast Guard Station Marblehead when he noticed the keys were in the ignition and there was no one aboard the boat.

A HH-65 rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Detroit, a C-130 from Trenton and Station Marblehead are currently searching for Placo.

All boaters in the area are asked to keep a look out for Placo and notify the Coast Guard if they see him or have any information.
